Legislative Assembly is the main part of Alberta’s democratic process. This division has the responsibility of adapting laws, policies and constructing programs. The Assembly is made up of 87 individuals. Each has their own political stance, and signifies a variety of constituencies.

The Legislative Assembly is supported by the Legislative Assembly Office. As a whole, this office allows the Assembly to execute a streamline approach during provincial elections. The Legislative Assembly office is not affiliated with the government, but ensures that all members of the Assembly receive adequate support to carry out actions that are required.

Parliament has three branches, and the Legislative Assembly is one of them. The executive branch is known as the government, and is made up with the Premier and cabinet ministers that he chooses. The branch that is in charge of making laws is the legislative branch, and the judicial branch is in charge of interpreting and upholding laws within the court system.
