Casselman Neighbourhood History

Residential construction in Casselman took place for the most part during the 1970s when 2-story townhouses were built in the neighbourhood's history. These homes comprise the majority of the homes in Casselman today. Between 1970 and 1990, Casselman also witnessed the construction of single detached houses along with low-rise apartment condos.

Casselman Neighbourhood Homes

Casselman offers a wide variety of options for new neighbourhood homeowners. About two-thirds of all homes in the neighbourhood are occupied by their owners, while the rest are rented out.

The most popular type of residential properties in this community are townhouses while approximately 25% of the Casselman homes are single-detached houses. The rest include duplexes, apartments and condominiums. Most of the townhouses and the low-rise apartments can be found on the south side of McLeod Road.

Casselman Community Amenities

Casselman is well-known for its wide open recreational space and community amenities. McLeod Park occupies almost the entire western section of Casselman and takes up 16 hectares of the neighbourhood. With so much green space around, this area resembles a picture you would see on a postcard depicting the perfect community. Casselman also features many strategically-placed pathways, which encourage leisurely walks and socializing with neighbours.

Other recreational areas include Casselman Sport Fields, Matt Berry Park, and the Londonderry Athletic Grounds in Kilkenny, which features a community swimming pool, fitness center, and football fields. Shoppers can visit Londonderry Mall, Clareview Town Centre, Clareview Business Park, York Shopping Plaza, and the shops along 50 Street.

Places of worship within Casselman include St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church. Children in Casselman can attend York School, McLeod Elementary School, St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School, Steele Heights Junior High School or J.J. Bowlen Catholic Junior High School, which are all fairly close to the neighbourhood.

The park is the distinguishing feature of this neighbourhood. Casselman is a great place to settle if you are entering the world of real estate and are looking for a starter home. Townhomes offer a lot more privacy than condo-apartments and there are plenty to choose from here. It's a fantastic neighbourhood for children and offers everything a modern family could need.
