Fort Saskatchewan Community History

Established as a fort in 1875, Fort Saskatchewan has slowly developed into the thriving community it is today, with a deep history officially becoming a city in 1985. Located on a 3-acre site, it homes 8 historic buildings from around Alberta and overlooks the North Saskatchewan River.

The Dow Centennial Centre, or DCC, is the recreational and cultural hub of the community. It is an impressive complex that brings together a magnificent multi-purpose sports centre with an art gallery and performing arts theatre. Additionally, the equipped 538 seat performing arts theatre is partnered by a permanent art gallery, along with pottery and art studios.
