Sakaw Neighbourhood History

Sakaw in the Cree language means "wooded area," which was the neighbourhood's history before it was before it was turned into a residential community. It still has its natural charm, which explains why approximately 4,200 people enjoy living here. For the most part, the residential development in the area occurred during the busy 1970s, which accounts for the rather modern look of the houses and of the neighbourhood itself.

Sakaw Community Homes for Sale

Despite the fact that most of the homes for sale in the community were constructed during the 1970s, potential homeowners do have a wide variety of styles to choose from. About 70% of all the residential structures in the neighbourhood are single family houses. The other common housing types are Sakaw townhomes, duplexes and apartment buildings. Only about a fourth of the residents here are renters. The rest are residents who live in the homes they own.

Sakaw Neighbourhood Amenities

The neighbourhood of Sakaw also features wide roads, which include Anthony Henday Drive, to reach the various convenient amenities. These roads offer easy travel to commercial establishments including the nearby malls like the Millhurst Shopping Centre and Mill Woods Town Centre. Millhurst is a community that comprises 2 neighbourhoods in the south-central portion of Mill Woods.

The neighbourhood itself isn't bothered by large amounts of traffic, due to the curved nature of the roads, which often end in cul-de-sacs. Instead, a lot of residents enjoy the convenience of taking a stroll or riding a bike, thanks largely to the amazing pathways that run through Sakaw.

You'll also find many residents regularly spending their time relaxing in the public park at the centre of the community. Many Sakaw children attend the neighbourhood public school - Sakaw Elementary School.

All in all, Sakaw is a pretty place where the streets are quiet, the neighbours are friendly, and the amenities are close by. Managed by the Millhurst Community League.
