Lansdowne Community History

Lansdowne is considered to be a new Edmonton community since it was only been annexed with the city in 1960 so it has a short history. Once it was acquired by the city, developments began in this neighbourhood and by the early 1970s, a considerable number of houses had already been built in the area.

Since most of these homes are an executive-style, they are considered to be some of the most affluent houses in Edmonton. Other options for housing in Lansdowne are condos and apartment units, which can be found in low-rise and high-rise buildings. These units can be found towards the eastern corners of the neighbourhood, separated from the single-detached homes.
