Callaghan Community History

The community of Callaghan has a very short history. Approved on December 7, 2005 for urban development, the construction was completed in 2011. Callaghan is one of the newer neighbourhoods in the Heritage Valley residential area of southwest Edmonton.

Callaghan Neighbourhood Homes

Callaghan is an up-and-coming neighbourhood of Edmonton providing a mix of homes and property styles ranging from low-density housing in the central, southern and eastern portions of the neighbourhood to medium-density sites clustered in the corners. Housing here is varied to suit a range of age groups, income levels and lifestyles. Callaghan, which only started developing in the last decade, is in the final stages of urban development and residential construction. Callaghan homes for sale are very popular and when one is listed it usually sells very quickly.

Callaghan Community Amenities

The community of Callaghan has many creeks, parklands, a beautiful central lake and nearby modern amenities, which blend together to make a peaceful and convenient community. To promote easy pedestrian and bicycle travel, the neighbourhood also features multi-use trails and walkways that span the entire area while collector roads that come to T intersections limit the amount of short-cutting by vehicles through the community.

Transit facilities in the neighbourhood include regular bus services operating on a number of different routes while a new LRT Station is planned to open in the nearby Heritage Valley Town Centre in the near future. The Southgate Centre, St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital, South Edmonton Common and the Seven Oaks Golf Club are only a short commute away.

Families moving to Callaghan have many great schools to choose from including Monsignor Fee Otterson School and the Johnny Bright Elementary and Junior High School. Located right inside the neighbourhood, the Jump Start Learning Centre is also available for preschool services and education.

Callaghan is located near great shopping centres and stores including the City Centre and nearby shops in the greater Blackmud community. The South Edmonton Common is only 2 km away and has great stores to choose from along with venues for family entertainment.

The neighbourhood offers waterfront properties and homes with lake side views. The lake, along with its small town feel and safe environment, make Callaghan one of the most sought-after communities in Edmonton. The neighborhood is managed by the Blackmud Creek Community League.
